Cost-Effectiveness of Intrauterine Spacers Post-Surgery

Written by Admin | Jun 25, 2024 6:43:41 AM

Surgical procedures in the endometrial cavity can damage the basal layers of the endothelial linings, leading to intrauterine adhesions (IUAs), which cause pregnancy loss, infertility, and complications. Preventing IUAs is crucial, and conforming spacers are used post-surgery to prevent their formation.

This analysis estimates the cost-effectiveness of conforming spacers in the US healthcare system, focusing on IUA event rates and associated costs. A decision tree model compared outcomes for patients using spacers versus those who did not, from a US payer perspective over three and a half years. Only direct healthcare costs were considered. The findings aim to help healthcare payers and providers decide on reimbursement for conforming spacers and evaluate their clinical benefits.
