In addition to Axtria’s presentations and posters (mentioned in our first blog on Write the Future of Analytics with Axtria at PMSA 2019), Axtria is also leading one of the pre-conference tutorial sessions and participating in the conference panel discussion.
The pre-conference tutorial is offered on Sunday, April 14th from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Axtria’s David Wood, Ph.D., Senior Principal, and Sravan Kumar Bhamidipati, Director, will be instructing the educational tutorial on “Applications for Data Science in the Pharmaceutical Industry.” This tutorial will cover an overview of data science, machine learning (ML), and artificial intelligence (AI). David and Sravan will discuss: what is "data science" and what are its promised benefits? Is it living up to its promise in the pharma world? The tutorial will offer a high-level overview of data science applications in pharma, including text mining, pattern recognition in medical testing, screening of medical testing, targeting, patient journey, segmentation/classification, influence detection, and dynamic message refinement (i.e., Next Best Action).
David and Sravan will also consider the taxonomy of AI/ML approaches and the role of data management. What are the pros and cons of the different approaches? How does appropriate data management contribute to successful applications of AI/ML? While addressing these questions, available software options will be discussed.
The second half of the tutorial will feature detailed case studies, including a Random Forest application, a Next Best Action example, an RF model application for overall resource optimization, and a case study predicting patient adherence/non-adherence for intervention. Don’t miss this opportunity to boost your knowledge! This tutorial is free to manufacturer attendees. Pre-registration is required, so be sure to select this event during the online registration process.

If you prefer learning and sharing in an open-dialogue, group setting, then the conference panel discussion is for you. This year’s topic is “Analytics Applications Across Functions & Career Path for Analytics Professionals.” This 45-minute discussion is on Tuesday, April 16th at 3:30 p.m.
Axtria’s Devesh Verma, Principal, will be one of the four panelists. Devesh has over 19 years of diverse experience with brand marketing, technology, campaign enablement, data-driven decisions, data security and platforms built for reaching customers to deliver on customer engagement, business insights, advanced analytics, and infrastructure capacity management across multiple domains. The other panelists bring a variety of experience and expertise from their careers and currently represent: GSK, Pfizer, and Novartis.
This session will be an excellent venue for engaging in thought-provoking discussions, giving and receiving feedback, and meeting colleagues with similar interests. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from both the moderator and the panelists.
