As a follow-up to our first Pharmaceutical Management Science Association (PMSA) blog on Axtria’s participation in PMSA’s 2018 Annual Conference, we would now like to draw your attention to the thought-leading presentation we have planned for April 30th.
Ashish Sharma, Principal, and Kaiwen Zhong, Senior Associate, will be presenting how Machine Learning (ML) can help make sense of EMR and EHR data.
Today, 90% of data created is unstructured, and it is growing faster than structured data. Among the unstructured data in pharma, a large portion is in the form of images and PDF files, such as scanned EMR and EHR records. As the volume of these PDFs and images grows, it becomes increasingly difficult to turn them into valuable information quickly.
In this presentation, Ashish and Kaiwen will address the following questions:
- How to utilize and combine big data and distributed technologies to manage unstructured data efficiently?
- When can ML and natural language processing be used for analyzing unstructured data, ranging from images to text documents to semi-structured data?
The costs of such a dilemma are a costly, overburdened data warehouse, slow access to other structured data, and the inability to learn from valuable information, especially in the field of precision medicine and cancer research. Ashish and Kaiwen will explore the different ML tools and algorithms for production and scalability that turn unstructured data into valuable information quickly. They will also discuss the importance of taking advantage of the latest data sources, integrating them into the enterprise, and driving meaningful insights. Don’t miss this 45-minute session on Monday at 10:15 am.
Along with this session, Axtria has a stimulating line up of thought-leading presentations, informative conference tutorials, educational posters, innovative showcases, and networking opportunities throughout the conference.
